busy....

Tue Aug 18, 2009, 7:13 PM
The little fan fiction that I'm tackling is taking a bit longer than I thought. Damn. I'm being thorough, I hope, in the crossover. Check out it out if you like Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist. I've changed my goal of illustrating it to finishing the prose properly. I, too, don't know exactly how it will end. I prewrite one thing and have a plan when the characters come up and kick me in the head, making the story go in another direction altogether. I try to update daily.

Artswalk, Riverside Ca

I just thought I could make it through the show without running into one weirdo for once.

But, nope.

During the last half hour, a guy walked into my room and announced that he was having an existential crisis. "Everything is plastic." He sat onto the empty seat near me, and complained about everything. I got the gist that he was a very young guy, probably in his teens. He really annoyed me. He said he was a writer. I carefully keep from rolling my eyes, because I knew what was coming next, which was to say he would want me to illustrate something for him. For free, of course.

He then got a phone call from his boyfriend, and began arguing with him. Which scared away possible clients that were looking at my work.

Sigh.

Screw it. Next month I'm doing characatures.

SDCC

Sun Jul 26, 2009, 6:23 PM
I'm wiped out from SDCC yesterday, and I'm still running things through my head.

I went to the titmouse boat for the 7200 frames on the way there, got filmed (yuck!me all sweaty from the drive and all) while they interviewed me. I now think I should have said some things and shouldn't have said others. Regardless, the ball is in their court as to if I'm in it or not. It looked like they were way more interested in the guy I was sitting next to. Not that I'd blame them or anything, cause he was sure cute and all. Talk about camera ready, unlike frumpy old me. (There's a good reason I don't like working in front of cameras).

Missed a bunch of friends at the SDCC. They simply didn't show.

Damn the crowds. I couldn't even get into one panel this year. Not even a small one. I think I was right in my decision of last year to avoid the con altogether, as I accomplished nothing but blisters on my feet.

Oh, I lie. I got a poster from a film I had never heard of from the freebie table.

Wah!

Anyhow, I look forward to getting some artwork done, and maybe get started on my animation project just in case the titmouse thing doesn't work out. I want an animation short done by the end of the year, afterall.

Anime Studio 5 English Full Version

Mon Jul 13, 2009, 2:11 AM
Since they're letting us download this for free, I decided to take a look at it.

I was not impressed.

I was hoping for a tool that was at least better than the Swishmax that I use for animations, specifically a better pen tool than it has, and instead I get a wanna-be 3d program that is nowhere as good or diversified as blender3d--the 3d application that I use. In short:

People actually paid money to use this thing?!? Ewwwwwww.
